Bend Soap Co. Review. & inside scoop on a sale!

Raise your hand, if you are one of many moms who care greatly about your health and the health of your families! I am right there with you, my friend! There are so many items we eat or use, that can be a good health choice or possibly a bad choice and sometimes those results don’t show for years. One of the first things I changed, when I started researching and learning on my health journey, was personal care products.  When I realized some of my health/hormone issues were  caused by my chemical filled soaps and lotions, I began to search for healthy options that actually work.

Bend Soap Company

I came across Bend Soap Company this past summer and after stalking them on FB for a while, I decided to give them a try! A big thing I liked about Bend Soap Company was that they are a family owned and operated business! I took advantage of a sale they do about once or twice a year. It is called the “Bulk Scrap” sale and it makes a high quality product like theirs affordable to my shoestring budget. I ordered a couple different scents and they arrived quickly.

I was very pleased with how the soap lathered and washed back off! my skin felt clean without feeling dry. Sometimes with this kind of soap it can leave a film on your skin but it didn’t! Occasionally I lather some up in my hands to wash the front of my hair and it worked great, it didn’t leave it feeling gunky or dry!  A nice benefit to ordering the bulk soap was that it also gave me a good hostess gift stash, and who doesn’t love a good smelling soap!

They offer other products like deodorant, lotions, and Milk bath. I have also tried the unscented deodorant and was happy with the results. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter to receive notice of the “Bulk Scrap” sale!  According to their FB page, it is in the near future!!

How I Became a healthier Wife & Mother

My Plexus Journey
My Plexus Journey
My Healthy family

I knew something needed to change!!

I had brain fog, headaches, and fatigue, I was also dealing with Endometriosis pain, as well as adhesion pain from 2 C-sections.  Life was not a cheerful place I felt very blue and this was not normal for me.  I had tried the traditional approach for my pain, over the counter pain meds, and a prescription for birth control.  They would give some relief.  During my “time of the month” I had to take oc pain meds( Motrin, Excedrin, Tylenol) the full strength, alternated every 2-3 hrs, and wash them down with caffeine or coffee to get relief.  I was not comfortable with all the side effects of the bc, or the painkillers, but I had to function somehow! The Doctors  only answer was “deal with it the best you can and when you need stronger pain meds we will get a prescription for you, and when you can’t control it then we will schedule a hysterectomy”!! I wasn’t even 30!!  We know we wanted to have at least one more child! So I decided to start figuring this out on my own!! I began researching endometriosis and fatigue, the info was enlightening yet confusing! It appeared to be some sort of deficiency or imbalance, but what exactly caused it, the professionals differed on!!

One thing became clear, I (we) needed a diet change! The American diet is killing us! I started out simple, just cutting out high fructose corn syrup and highly processed wheat products. I also began to limit my sugar intake and pay closer attention to food labels. It is surprising what ingredients are in food! Around this time I also came across a medical journal article talking about Estrogen Dominance and what to do to help re-balance the body.  This was a huge turning point in my research! I now had a list of vitamins and minerals, to supplement my diet with, as well as info on how beauty products like hand cream, deodorant, body wash and shampoo were causing more of an imbalance. So I also changed my toiletries to more natural formulas.

In Feb of 2010 we became pregnant with our youngest son. During this pregnancy I developed a severe case of Diastasis Recti (muscle separation in the abdomen wall).  My recovery and journey back to normal (whatever that is) was very long and painful.  I still was sure I’d need the hysterectomy in the future. We felt that if we couldn’t control the Endo naturally we would need to go the stronger med route( so many health risks).

It was in the summer of 2011 and I realized I hadn’t planted or weeded my flower beds, this was highly unusual for me, I am an outdoors person! I was still dealing with Endo pain and pain from the Diastasis Recti! I was discouraged, some months things felt like they were getting better, than the next month they would regress. I knew the answer was out there, I also knew I needed higher quality supplements but wasn’t sure were to find them. It was around this time that I discovered Trim Healthy Mama eating plan and face-book community. THM was a huge answer to prayer, I learned even more about how our bodies and food work together. I was encouraged by other ladies results and this helped me continue to research.

Enter Plexus! I kept hearing about the pink drink and passed it off as a fad! One day I read one of my friend’s personal health story and I knew she wasn’t the type to share something if it wasn’t legit! I chatted with her, and seriously gave the products some of my research time. I was shocked to realize that they were most of the same supplements I was already taking. One of my big issues/headaches with my current supplements was quality control and what to take with what!! Plexus had already done the research for me and had a simple plan.  All their products were dye and GMO free (big deal to me). What I was reading lined up with research I had already done. The focus was on gut health and as I had learned, the gut is the root of all our health!  I decided to try the Triplex for a couple months –Big changes- less headaches, more energy, less endo pain! I then added the multi-vitamin (xfactor) and the omega (megax) . I began to realize I had not reached for the pain meds, the sodas were not as appealing, and I had plenty of energy for my mom sized days!

As each year passes and I look back and see the big leaps forward my health has taken, I can’t help but praise the Maker of the Universe for the timing of his blessings. I am happy to no longer fear the need of a hysterectomy, I have zero endo pain and naps are now a fun luxury instead of a necessity to get through my day!

I look forward to a future of many years of enjoying activities with my boys, a homestead with our own meat and a big garden and orchard! What is your dream my friend?? What if plexus is your answer as well??

Breakfast Options For Busy Mom’s

Do you wonder what to eat some mornings? What breakfast options are there for busy moms?

Fruit loops,

supper left overs,

juice box,

granola bar,

Or ice water!

We all know that breakfast is a very necessary part of a successful day! Who doesn’t want a successful day? It just seems almost pointless to stop and eat some mornings, but if we have a bit of a plan it helps. Moms especially, need to feel good, the household depend on us!

I am not a morning person; night owl would describe me much better! But as life would have it, I am married to a man whose job takes him out of the house most mornings before the rooster even stretches on his roost! I arise and pack my man his lunch and make him a mug of hot coffee or tea! Honestly tho ladies who want to eat breakfast at the crack of crazy???

A breakfast plan is a life saver.

I have come up with a bit of a system to get breakfast in this mom’s face.             Two  breakfasts, yes, 2 breakfasts, one at 4-5 am and the second around 9 am.  In the early am I drink a mug of bulletproof coffee, because it is easy, I just made a hot pot of coffee for the Man. Once the boys are off to school I eat a yogurt with fruit, or granola. If I actually take time to cook a hot breakfast for the boys then I have that option, such as oatmeal, or cornmeal. Some mornings one of the boys or I make fried eggs, these can be consumed with a slice of cheese or sour dough bread.

Sometimes you just need the biggest mug possible!

This system has really helped me stabilize my blood-sugar levels. I also take my supplements with the mid-morning breakfast. You must do whatever works for you, But, not eating is not an option!

Ladies we must take care of ourselves, we are the guides and map writers for the next generation!  We can do this, we know it is best for our health, both physically and mentally!

Eat your meals,

Research and take supplements.

Jump and run with your children to get your heart rate up.

Fill your mind with positive encouragement from Gods word!

Show by example, let them see us doing what is good and right for our bodies. By making healthy choices for ourselves we then have the mental and physical health to do what is best for the family!
